2022 SMRC Knockhill Round 1

Scottish Mini Cooper Cup

Pole and double podium for Hose in the first round of Scottish mini Cooper championship.

Glasgow racer Neil Hose lit up the time sheets on Sunday to take pole position for the opening round of the Mini Cooper Scottish Championship at Knockhill Racing circuit in Dunfermline.

A healthy grid of minis turned up to fight for the top spot with Hose managing to secure 3rd place  and fastest lap in race 1 with another hard fought 3rd place in race 2.

An unfortunate wheel knock with championship rival Chad Little early in race 3, resulted in a significant wheel alignment issue forcing a damage limitation exercise to defend for the full 9 lap reverse grid sprint race. Hose fought hard to hold onto to 9th place despite lapping over a second slower than usual.

Afterwards he said,”Despite getting 2 podiums I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t manage to convert the pole position to a win as our pace was really strong from the start. In race 1 I definitely gave too much room to my rivals on the opening laps then found myself defending 3rd so couldn’t quite close the gap to challenge again for 2nd place despite getting the fastest lap. Race 2 we couldn’t quite find the pace we had earlier and after dropping to 6th had to work really hard to get back on the podium”

“I’m really looking forward to the next round as I know we’re quick again this year and I’m eager to show what we can do”

“I’d like to thank my team and sponsors, also a big thank you to the all the marshals for keeping us safe.”

The next round takes place again at Knockhill and is sure to be another action packed day of close racing.
