Qualified P5
No excuses, we had the pace but just couldn’t hook up the right lap. Only 2 tenths between pole and 5th setting the scene for some great racing ahead.
Race 1 - P3
Difficult race with my ABS sensor failed but moved up 2 places to secure the 3rd step on the podium
Race 2 - P3
Close fought battle with Chad Little for 2nd but couldn’t make the move stick so another 3rd place and fastest lap.
Race 3 (reverse grid) - P5
The front row massively jump the start from which I expected a restart to take place, however they just dropped the lights regardless and I got caught off guard. Ended up last by the first corner but had great race pace and moved through the field to challenge the leading pair. I made a move for second with a lap to go but the door was closed too late resulting in minor contact and a trip through the gravel. Recovered to finish P5 with fastest lap again.
Happy with two more podium finishes, however feel our results don’t reflect our pace but that’s motor racing. More importantly I had a great time loving competitive, close wheel to wheel racing that the Mini Coopers are renowned for.
Can’t wait to chase that win in a few weeks time on the 8th of August
I’d like to say a massive thank you to the Marshals who dedicate their weekend time to make these events go ahead and also the spectators and fans who come along to enjoy the action and create an atmosphere.
